We love Celebrity and have sailed on many, many Celebrity cruises. This was our first time on the Summit. It will be our last on this ship.
We were in an Aqua Class cabin and always sail Aqua Class because we love Blu. This was the worst Blu we ever have experienced. The food was, for the most part, excellent, but the service was so poor that it detracted from our enjoyment of the food. The sommelier was never around, even when we requested to see him. The servers did not recall who ordered what dishes. There were no garnishes served with the omelets unless we specifically requested them. We had to wait and, often, request items like juice, coffee, and pastries at breakfast, and water and bread at dinner. Side dishes often were served after the main dishes they were to accompany. There was much more. I communicated all this to the assistant manager of Guest Relations and the service (for us) greatly improved, but not for anyone else. I thought that the information would be used to improve the overall service in Blu, but that was not the case. Guest Relations followed up with us and we were, for the most part, satisfied with the service for the remaining 3 days of our cruise, but unfortunately the service did not improve for anyone else.
In the Oceanview Cafe, at lunch our dirty dishes were rarely cleared from our table. Often there were no glasses at the drink stations and we had to request them several times.
I am a native New Yorker and so did not spend time in this port.
