We enjoyed sailing on the Summit for our 7th time. This time, we had two sons, one daughter in law and two grandchildren with us. We like Bermuda, but we especially like the ship. The Summit is a comfortable ship. We each found many things to do during the evening and day hours. The kid's, during sea days and returning from our shore excursions, enjoyed the camp. Because the ship is Humongous, the girls, aged 9 and 11, felt comfortable navigating it by themselves. We gave them walkie talkies which worked great.

We arrived at the Port of Bayonne about 10:15 AM. First, we dropped off our luggage in the designated area, then we all proceeded to the Parking garage. Easy to park and ample room. We then went into the terminal. We checked in at the Suite Area, as we had sky suites. The lady at the check in counter, perhaps was new as she didn't take our photo's for our sea pass cards. Fortunately, as a seasoned cruiser, I realized it and then she took our photos, so all was well. We then walked to the area to have our boarding pics taken. Since we had the unlimited photo package, we wanted as many pictures of the group as possible. About 11, we were boarding the ship. The kids were stopped to receive bracelets which identified them as minors. We then entered the ship . We were offered champagne and mimosa's the kids OJ. While we have access to the luminae suite restaurants, we choose to have lunch at Bistro on Five. We enjoyed, salads, soup crepes and dessert. Of course, we had our first cruise drink. We then decided to tour the ship. The ship has been refurbished in some areas. The most impressive areas is around the pools- new much more comfortable seating. Since I was able to make my canyon ranch appts in advance, even for the beauty salon- we didn't wait on any spa line. That is a great improvement over the old wait on line method for securing appointments. Since we had credits, we also booked speciality dining in Qsine and Tuscan Grill. Both were very enjoyable. The family especially liked the diversity of Qsine.

For other breakfast and dinners, we enjoyed luminae. Lunch at the buffet and grill. The food was very good- many different choices. We all loved Michael's club- a wonderful relaxing place to meet. The kids loved it. Maja, Michael's club concierge was wonderful. One of the best concierge's on Celebrity. Our cabins, were spacious and clean- my only negative comment, is that the furniture really needs to be refinished and re-upholstered. While we had a beautiful extra large marble bathroom with a shower and bath tub, it really needs a good cleaning and new grouting. Also, the balcony lock wasn't working properly and we couldn't lock the door. I did report it, but nobody fixed it.

Cabin Review

Sky Suite 1

Cabin S1

This cabin is one of two cabins on board with a huge bathroom. It has both a bathtub and big stall shower. It is all marble and next to the penthouse. Since it is used as a spare bedroom for those guest who are in the penthouse should they desire to book it, it is very special. However, the closet is smaller then the regular S1's, but IMO worth it as we had more then enough storage space. The furniture needs to be refinished and the carpet and upholstered furniture needs to be refinshed. The ship was in dry dock, but only some public spaces and the penthouses and royal suites were redone.

Port Reviews

King's Wharf

Nice Beach and lunch included- pool chairs and umbrellas. Was crowded so it wasn't easy to get an umbrella. Arrive early.

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

Parking easy and ample. The terminal is also easy to navigate. Easy access to ship.
