We took a Danube's Delight cruise with Emerald Waterways and enjoyed every second of it. We were picked up from Munich airport and taken straight to the ship, Emerald Sun, at Nuremberg. From the moment we set foot onboard, the staff could not do enough to help us. We were welcomed with drinks and smiles, and taken to our cabin, which was a good size with a double bed and more than adequate ensuite bathroom. Having been on sea cruises before, with tiny cabins, our cabin on the Emerald Sun was a very pleasant surprise, both in terms of size and the included toiletries - shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion etc.
The cruise took us down the Danube Main Canal to the Danube river from Nuremberg to Budapest. The first full day included stop offs in Passau and Regensberg, but we were happy to sit up top and watch the fantastic scenery go by. We also stopped at Linz and Melk before reaching Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest, where we had a full day in each city. At each city there was a walking and/or coach tour included at no extra cost, and fantastic, knowledgeable guides to take us around the sites, and outline the history of the area. We had small receivers with ear phones in our cabins and these were used for each tour, connected to the guide's microphone, so they didn't have to shout to be heard above other guides in the area.
On board there was a lovely dining room, with a great range of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had two special five-course meals whilst on board, with exquisite food and wine. Again the staff were amazing in both their knowledge and service.
