Princess Cruises was an excellent choice for our Alaskan vacation! We stayed on the cruise ship for 7 nights and then had 6 nights in Princess Lodges in Mt. McKinley, Denali and Fairbanks. We had a balcony which we loved and especially on this cruise, we used our balcony more than we ever have on the five previous cruises we've taken and mostly because of the scenery. All of the mountains and glaciers we saw were beautifully amazing and the ports of call were great also. The food was excellent in both the dining room and the buffet! I know it sounds silly but I got to eat fish for breakfast, lunch and dinner which I loved! Everything was fresh and delicious! The service was good and I'm really glad we got to take this amazing trip! We did the Totem Bight State park and Lumberjack Show in Ketchikan, Alaska and both of these tours were great! We then went on a train ride to Mendenhall Glacier and did a Whale Watching tour in Juneau, Alaska. The Whale Watching tour was amazing! We saw at least 5 killer whales and 15 humpback whales. Thanks to the very wonderful eye of Monica, who spotted most of these whales with her binoculars! Mendenhall Glacier was breathtaking especially with the waterfall on the side of the glacier. We learned quite a bit about the Mendenhall Glacier in the visitors center and even viewed an excellent video. In Skagway we did the Yukon Expedition & White Pass Scenic Railway tour which was amazing! Mt. McKinley was breathing! We got to see the mountain all three days which I've heard is very rare. The McKinley Princess Lodge was beautifully decorated with flowers throughout the complex. The restaurant in the lobby was absolutely wonderful! The crab legs were huge and they were cut open so all I had to do was get the meat out of them. Prime Rib was delicious also. We loved everything about Mt McKinley Princess Lodge including the 20320 Cafe. I was somewhat disappointed with the rooms at Denali Princess Lodge which were mostly "Motel" rooms and not inside or "Hotel" rooms. The Music of Denali dinner show was entertaining and the food was amazing! Fairbanks Princess Lodge was beautiful as well and was equally decorated with flowers throughout the exterior of the Lodge. This hotel is completely enclosed in one building and was the only one to have air conditioning. Moving the luggage from the cruise ship to the hotels on the land tours was flawless! Everything we needed was waiting in our room when we arrived. It was wonderful! In Fairbanks, they weighed our luggage and took it to the airport for us which was very appreciated! All in all, I love the Island Princess and if I ever decide to take another cruise to Alaska, I will definitely choose the Island Princess!

The cabin was comfortable and the balcony was beautiful! The bathroom was small and we had to turn off the water to lather up but it worked perfectly!
