We were hoping that the Holland America Westerdam would be a step above the rest, but we didn't see that. No deal-breakers, but the lack of attention to detail was noticeable. I'll start with a few of the things I saw, and then share what stood out on the positive side.

How long should it take to get a glass of water refilled in the sit-down dining hall ? I would propose that for a first class cruise line, the answer would be "Never, we refill the glass before it is empty". Instead, we witnessed about 5 minutes on the first night.

It looked as if Holland America simply stopped caring about routine maintenance a few years ago. The examples that I saw:

Beautiful city. Be sure to get downtown and catch one of the hilarious street performer shows. The water taxi that takes you back very close to the dock is only $ 6 per person.
