We just got back from our fist cruise ever a 7 day Western Caribbean Cruise on the Carnival Freedom out of Galveston. We had a blast! Best service from all crew and staff. We had an interior room which was roomy and had everything we needed. Our steward was so wonderful in keeping our room perfect all the time. Besides spending time on the deck starring out at the beautiful views, my favorite time of the ship was dinner. Eric our waiter was so wonderful he always remembered our names and not just in the dining room. When we saw him up on the Lido deck or other dining areas he always greeted us by name. In addition they always remembered how we liked our steak or coffee etc. Not only did all the crew and staff take great pride in the ship but it seemed they really loved what they were doing and had a great time doing it.
Okay just a few little things people tend to over look, the water taste great but bring a big cup (we took our Yeti cups). The showers are wonderful, perfect water pressure and temperature. My favorite dessert was the Grand Mariner souffle, it was to die for.
One thing we didn't realize there is so much to do we could never see or do everything. No matter what age group you are there is something to do and you are bound to have a great time. We enjoyed the food, bingo, comedy shows, karaoke, live music and movies on the lido deck. There are plenty of spaces to just relax and enjoy the sun, Caribbean air and views. There were only two disappointments... 1) they never had Jazz music in the Swing bar I was really looking forward to listing to a live Jazz band (big band or swing) 2) the movie screen was down a couple of days so we missed watching movies we wanted to see.
We went out on our own and you have to be careful. I would recommend booking with Carnival.
