We have been on approx. 20 cruises and of those 15 have been on RCCL.
We chose this sailing for two reasons, the first being we could drive to the port from CT and avoid the flying hassle and secondly the price for 12 nights was fantastic!
Several things are different for embarking. First you drop off your luggage then you park your car in the adjacent parking garage ($20 per day paid up front). Then you head to the terminal, you need to speak to an agent in a turquoise colored sweater or blazer, they are both inside and outside the terminal. There is no longer a reservation desk! You also do not get a sea pass card till you go to your room at 1:00pm. We arrived at the port about 10:45 am and on the ship at 11:30. Once the ship was cleared for the nexr cruise passengers to go aboard Diamond and Emerald cruises were allowed on first, gold and first time cruises after we boarded. There were several places to grab lunch, the windjammer, the two 70 cafe and the solarium bistro. Rooms were ready promptly at 1:00pm.
Lots of storage space. Nice size room for two people. Loved the virtual balcony, even has sound which you can turn on and off! FYI Sea pass cards keep the lights on!
Grab a mat and lounge on the water! Please tip the gentlemen who carry your chairs to the beach for you, this is their living. Lots to do or you can sit and relax. Beaches on the right side of the island are less rocky.
Walked around town and up to the two forts. Very clean, lots of stray cats but they are well fed. Plenty of police. Back on ship before nightfall.
Fun way to spend the afternoon. Race it self takes about 45 minutes. You will have a job on the vessel! No sitting around here.
Went off the ship and hired a private taxi for the day, went to fortress, back to ship to eat and change and then to beach. Taxi driver was wonderful. Cost $80 plus nice tip!
Very hilly and steep garden, lots of steps. Not alot of flowers mostly flowering bushes. Made a brief stop at replica church from Paris interesting. Was a ok excursion.
Arrived easily.
