I heard good things about it. I know that the Rheine River has many natural beauties, castles, little villages, vinehards, etc. It is pictures perfect. I also knew that Viking does everything right. They are thoughtful and very organized in all that they plan. My cruise started in Basel, Switzerland. We traveled up the Rheine with several excursions along the way. Each of the excursions were wonderful. I wish I could spend three days in all the places we stopped. My cruise ended in Amsterdam, Netherlands where I was placed in an absolutely beautiful hotel. Amsterdam has much to offer, however, I only had time to take advantage of a few things.
All the meals on the boat were excellent. Thank goodness I am not a picky eater, because some of the dishes were quite foreign to the average American eater. I have only experienced Viking River Cruises, but I would highly recommend Viking to any of my friends that were interested in going on a cruise. The staff aboard the ship are very pleasant, and the tour guides for each of the land excursions spoke wonderful English and knew their stuff. The excursions were packed full of information. I wish I could remember 50% of the facts, but I'm gettting old and my brain is not the sponge it use to be. Perhaps, next time I will take a voice activated recorder or at least take written note. I cannot wait to embark on another river cruise. Maye Russia next year.
