Sailed on the Celebrity Infinity from Miami on 27th March with friends , destination San Diego via the Panama Canal. Flew direct from Heathrow the day before, overnighting at the Miami Airport Marriott. Everything went smoothly and we were due to transfer to the ship at noon, when we received an email saying they had some problems with a stomach virus on the previous cruise, which had affected both passengers and crew, and the ship was undergoing an inspection and cleaning which would mean a delay. However after 2 hours we were transferred and embarkation occurred without a hitch.

We had a balcony cabin (6041) on deck 6 which was clean and spacious although the balcony rails were in a poor state, and there was rust evident on the paintwork, but it was clean. The stateroom was kept clean and tidy by our steward who we actually never met. We dined in the Trellis Restaurant on Select Dining, and rarely had the same table or waiters. Having sailed with Celebrity previously on Equinox and Eclipse, we found the food quality and choice to be very average compared to our previous experiences. This was also the case in the Oceanview Café, where we had breakfast and lunch.

The ship itself looked its age of 15 years, although we were told it had a major re-fit in November 2015. We spoke to several people, mainly from the U.S, who thought the same as us that this ship did not reflect the normal quality of the Celebrity brand, which was very disappointing. There was some construction work taking place on Deck 11, which meant that the sports court was closed, and some access to this deck on the starboard side. Our friends had recently cruised on the Millenium, which is the same type of vessel, and said that the Infinity was nowhere near that standard.
