My wife and I boarded the Spirit in what I can only describe as one of the most efficient and thorough operations we have encountered in almost 20 years! The ship was in excellent condition for a ship of its age and immaculately clean. We stopped in Key West where it appeared as though everyone was trying to debark at the same time. It took us approximately 30 minutes from the time the ship was cleared until the trolley dropped us off in downtown Key West.
We enjoyed the Free Style cruising, but did make reservations in advance in the Garden Restaurant for most days and always requested Romel and Gede as our waiter and assistant waiter--outstanding service and good meals!
We were fortunate enough to have the beverage package as one of our perks and enjoyed trying a variety of the beverages offered during the cruise and on the island--the one interesting item was that while in Florida it appeared as though we were being billed the full price, however after checking with the purser she indicated that it had to be done that way for Florida sales tax--we were only changed for the sales tax.
The room was well maintained and about of the size expected. The balcony however seemed a bit small, but large enough for two chairs and small table. A couple of picky items regarding the room: the safe was almost on the floor so you had to stoop down and use your glasses to enter the combination code--would have been much better higher up in the closet; the television, on the other hand was a bit too high in that we had to raise the remote above your heads if watching television from the bed; would have preferred that the bed lamps be further away from the headboard.
