A family group of 11. Myself, wife and 1 daughter (all former cruisers). 1 sister, 1 daughter, 1 son-in-law and 5 grandkids (all first-timers). Worst part is getting a large group like that to the ship (and back) easily. Flight costs were ludicrous. There are better times (late summer or early fall) to schedule based on that, also for cruise prices. All costs are quite a bit higher than even a few years ago.
Once on the ship, as usual all is grand. A couple of years ago we were on the Oasis (sister ship) and that was our first experience with a "floating city", of over 6000 passengers. Turns out much better than expected.
After some apprehension by a few of the first-timers, all were relatively quickly acclimated to the 'life'., especially the kids. They were pretty much non-stop until collapse every day, whether just on ship or excursions. No shortage of activities or events for young and old alike.
Superior Ocean View Balcony rooms were a little disappointing for the price, even with only 3 people. The rest of the group had 4 per room with kids. Bathroom more cramped than even what we remembered on Oasis in an interior room. Service by our room steward Elizabeth made up for it.
Breathtaking! You have to try it. Safer than driving a car.
