This review should probably get a 3.5. Better than average although not good enough to be rated a 4 for very good. The good news: the ship is pretty; she shows her age but wears the years well. Our inside cabin was lovely, well designed and quite roomy with lots of closet and storage space. The negative: a very small shower stall. We are not ample people and showering was a challenge!
We especially enjoyed the wrap around Promenade Deck, which was great for walking. And the aft outdoor space on decks 10 and 11 was terrific - not much used, they were like large private balconies; every passenger, upon discovering them, said "don't tell anyone! Let's keep it our secret!" However, folks in cabins nearby were subjected to the doors to those decks constantly slamming shut. Beware.
Overall, the staff was very pleasant. Especially kind and helpful was our cabin steward, Fidel on Baja Deck, who always greeted you with a smile and was quick to please. Equally delightful was Carmen, who was tending bar in the Explorers Lounge, and the maitre d in Sabatini. Leah, who served us in the Bordeaux Dining Room, was excellent. Special kudos to our lecturer, whose name escapes me just now, who spoke so knowledgeably and warmly about our ports of call; he was a font of priceless information and detail and was a pleasure to listen to. A surprising plus for us were the outstanding singers and dancers who starred in four different shows - well rehearsed, well performed, truly first rate.
