A group of friends sailed together on the Silhouette this past week. What a great time we had! We purchased a specialty restaurant dining package on the first day and LOVED all of the specialty restaurants! Our first night (Valentine's Day) was spent at the Lawn Club Grill. Lobo was our waiter, and he was fantastic! He gave red roses to each lady at our table and served amazing flatbreads, steaks and fresh-from-farm delights with wonderful wine pairings.
We experienced 12-foot waves the first two days at sea. Lots of rocking and rolling and people barfing in the bathrooms. The medical office reportedly handed out sea-sick medications for free to those who hadn't planned in advance. The Captain and crew were terrific, providing updates overhead.
The Cruise Critic Meet n' Greet party was very nicely done. Coffee and pastries were provided in Cellar Masters. The Captain, Cruise Director Paul, and senior officers were present, personable and genuinely welcoming.
This cabin is nicely located not far from the elevators. The bed is comfortable and the balcony is roomy. As noted in previous reviews, there is little drawer space in the cabin. Ample closet space is provided, but only three drawers and the overhead compartments. I brought packing cubes, which worked well in the overbed compartments.
The bathroom is the most luxurious I have ever seen on a cruise ship! Modern fixtures, plenty of storage and the shower doors that close in a comfortable shower space.
The partitions on the balconies open between cabins, so my friends and I could lounge on the balcony with each other. We even had a cocktail/lunch party one day on our balconies....too fun!
Leslie, our cabin attendent, was wonderful! Her smile is infectious and we loved her service.
Embarkation was easy. Disembarkation included a long line from the ship to the terminal (easily over 100 yards) and equally long lines through Customs. The lines moved smoothly and we were off the ship and boarding our shuttle bus in 45 minutes.
We only had a few hours in San Juan. Took a taxi to Barrachina for their world-famous Pina coladas. Lots of people begging for money on the streets...not a fun place to be after dark.
Always great shopping and dining in St. Maarten!
