For the last few years we have mostly sailed on the Liberty of the Seas and were sad to see it move to Galveston this Fall. The last time we were on the Indy was Dec. 2009 and we were not overly impressed with staff nor food. Since we like 5 nighters from Fort Lauderdale we had to go back to the Indy. Well, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff with few exceptions were very pleasant, helpful and always checking to see if we were enjoying the cruise. The food was terrific. We ate at Giovanni's the first day, DH had lamb chops and the sauce with it was stellar. The only down note there was the dessert trolley which underwhelmed. The escargot in MDR was very good -- hot and the sauce was perfect. Meals were also very good in the WindJammer even the Turkey which is normally not a great choice however this time it was something I would be proud to serve at Christmas and the gravy was excellent.

It certainly was disappointing to have such a long wait to board the ship and we felt very bad for more elder passengers forced to stand for hours. By now I would have hoped that RCL could foresee when delays might occur such as a week ago when a whole ship of Zumba passengers mostly from other countries needed to go through the Immigration process. Perhaps find a way to work with Immigration (or pay them) to have more staff on hand.

Our cabin was as expected, we had a D2 balcony on Deck 10. It is certainly more spacious than a D1 on the Oasis and the bed had an egg crate topper which made it comfortable.

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

Cabin was centrally located on the Starboard side near the mid-ship elevators. Good side balcony however small table. Room has long sofa and lots of storage areas. Bed had egg crate topper which made it comfortable.
