We spent fifteen days on the Sapphire Princess cruising around the South China Sea in January 2016 and overall it was a good experience.
After three glorious days in Singapore we boarded the Sapphire Princess on January 8th 2016. We had a guaranteed inside cabin and only discovered the day before we boarded that we were allocated cabin D511 on Deck 9, Dolphin Deck. We had been on the Diamond Princess in 2015 and had an obscured window cabin and D511 was about the same size and layout apart from having no window.
There was a large double bed with lovely pillows, a big flat screen television, an enormous mirror in place of a window, a kettle with cups with no handles, we had brought our own travel mugs, and only Chinese teabags, no coffee, a fridge and a safe. I brought my own coffee as I knew that the coffee in the Horizon Court was made from syrup and tasted awful. There was a good selection of tea in the Horizon Court. There was one chair and a small glass topped table which kept getting in the way. There were lots of hangers and drawer space. The bathroom was small with a non removable shower head in the tiny shower. The sink was hardly big enough to wash your hands. Shower gel and shampoo were on the wall in the shower and they provided a bar of soap and hand lotion. The air conditioning was very responsive to the wall control, unlike some we have come across. There was some noise in the area, I assume it was from air conditioning units but it didn't stop us sleeping.
The cabin was comfortable in the middle of the ship. The shower was small with a non removable shower head and the sink was tiny.
There were plenty of hangers and drawer space.
