Boarding in Miami was long and tedious because the ship arrived from Barcelona with a Norwalk outbreak and cleaning/disinfecting/sanitizing took a long time. After leaving Miami there were multiple outbreaks of Gastro-Intestinal everyday with quarantines, etc. so the cruise (18 days of it!) was constant sanitizing, disinfecting, etc. of everything. Everytime you sat down at a table it was awash inn sudsy disinfectant with a very powerful smell. Everything, including the walls were constantly being disinfected. This was CDC protocol so the cruise line could not be blamed for it. Laundries were closed, no ice in the room, no snacks in Baristas, or the Executive Lounges, large gathering such as meet the Captain, Oceania Club gatherings, etc. were cancelled. To appease the guest, they had several hours of free drinks--did nothing for those of us on the Premium Drinks package nor non-drinkers. Didn't occur to them until I mentioned it to them. Because we booked two cruises together they did not consider it to be back to back cruises giving us 2 cruise credits. We were supposed to have book the two cruises separately in order get the 2 credits. Bizarre. Service has certainly gone downhill on Oceania. This was our 5th (and supposedly 6th) cruise with them and we and others noticed the decline in service. Even newbies to the line said they were disappointed with the cruise line and expected much better. We do like Oceania but have decided that IF we ever do another it will be from a port much further afield than Miami. Comments to them seem to go unnoticed and they only seem to like very positive comments and they ignore negative comments.
Excellent cabin. Large, large walk in closet.
