I have been on over 50 cruises on almost all the major lines. I firmly believe that you have to adjust your expectation in light of what you pay. The question is did you get good value for your money. It is not fair to say that a cruise that you paid $400 for is not as good as one you paid $800. The $800 cruise should be much better in every aspect. With that in mind, this is a review of our recent cruise on the Carnival Valor. It was a 7 day cruise to the Western Caribbean, sailing out of Port Canaveral. We did not pay much for our inside room and were just looking for a nice cruise to get away for 7 days. It is a big plus for us to have a ship sailing out of Canaveral, since it is only and hour and half from home. This was our third sailing on Carnival.

Embarkation-- We arrived about 2 pm and did not have to wait for anything.Just walked right on to the ship and went up to our inside room on deck 8. It was ready. W deposited our bags and went up one floor to Rosie's for lunch. Again, no crowds and no lines. Great time to arrive.

Room: we were assigned an inside room on Deck 8. I was worried that we would hear a lot of noise from the Lido deck, but heard nothing. The room was adequate. Plenty of storage. Nice shower. Do remember to bring an extension cord or power strip since outlets are minimal. Our room steward was great. Always greeted us by name and had a smile and got everything done promptly. The only complaint we had was that the room was too hot.Made three complaints to guest services and got no response. Not even we'll look at it. I know the ship is scheduled for refurbishment soon, but you could at least try to respond to passenger requests.
