Our embarkation was carried out in no time and not difficult, but there was no one to show us to our room t, this being our first cruise. We eventually located our balcony room and were surprised how basic they were. One could touch the bathroom mirror and the far wall of the shower with both hands. The drains stank as the water “P” traps drained away. Suitcases came sometime after we were in the room. Cedric our cabin attendant was very pleasant and informative and was delightful when passing him in the corridor. The bed was comfortable and line spotlessly clean. All basics were promptly replenished.

Drinks were reasonably priced but the draught beer and lager quality varied a lot. We tended to have the quality drinks in our room.

The whole ship was crowded with people the majority in their 65 plus and was ideal for people with walking difficulties who could bring their walking aids and wheelchairs. But this brought a problem with the lifts we had to walk up and down 9 flights of stairs because P&O calculation on the amount of passengers needing these lifts. The same was with the sunbed surrounding the pond all sandwiched tight together. No way could the people in wheel chairs or on walking aids get to and sit on the side of the sunbeds and as for little tables they were far and few between. The same applied for the lounge chairs and settees they were far too low to get out of- one could have done with a hoist –
