I have been on the Breakaway before and my experience was decent but my last adventure on the Breakaway was one of the worst experiences of my entire life.

Embarkation: First, let me state embarkation was a nightmare. There are way too many people waiting to get on the ship and the terminal is super tiny. We waited at least an hour after checking in to board the ship and they do it by the number system which is a complete lottery. Our group number was 16 but an unfortunate British couple who we were on an extended holiday were stuck with 31. We later met up with them and they said they must have waited twice as long as we did.

Food: Once we boarded the ship we went up to the Garden Cafe to have lunch. The Garden cafe made a wonderful first impression but that was extremely short lived. Each time we dined there, the selection started to diminish and the quality was lacking. Needless to say, we ate most of our meals in the dining rooms if they were open for those meals. The dining rooms were very nice and the food wasn't bad but the service was lacking. I also didn't like the fact that I didn't have the same waiter every night. If you decide to treat yourself to one of the specialty restaurants, make sure you make it Cagney's. Of all of the specialty cruise ship restaurants I have tried, this was by far the best. For $30, we got a 4 course, 2 hour dinner service with a wonderful waitress. I think that this was the best part of the cruise, to be honest. As a side note, the Manhattan room is not worth dressing up for. In fact, I was happier with the service and food in Taste and Savor because they were smaller venues.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BX

Extremely narrow cabin with a very nice bathroom. The bathroom was actually my favorite part of the whole cabin because it had probably the biggest shower at sea and had enough room to move around without hitting anything. The beds were firm but the pullout couch was extremely uncomfortable. There was not enough room to move around in the cabin. Also, there was not enough closet space to put your clothes away and we were forced to put the suitcases under the beds instead of the closet where they belong. The balcony was very small but we put it to good use during the cruise.
