This may be an otherwise average Celebrity ship except for the Captain's personality and desire to please his guests. From an unexpected cruise past the Statue of Liberty (when he could have just made his way out of New York leaving it in the background) to multiple interactions throughout the week (water volleyball officers vs. guests, his well-delivered interesting presentation on the ship's navigation, senior officer reception line outside the theater on the last night of the cruise, and many, many activities in between). The ship also has a top notch cruise director. If rating 1 to 10, I'd give Ken Mills a 12+. He also is involved with the guests throughout the week, not leaving the big jobs to his activity staff. Both Captain Leo and Ken Mills' wit and sense of humor add so much fun to all of the activities on board.

Bermuda is beautiful; actually quite different from the Caribbean. We enjoyed the Royal Dockyard area. There are artisans there: glass blowing, pottery, candles, pink sand jewelry and one we'd never heard of before - fiber optic jewelry (very intricate and beautifully done). With the holiday most of the vendors were absent went we went back Friday, so our purchases were limited. We will most likely return to Bermuda as we only saw the southern half of the island. Next time we'd make sure to get to St. Georges, actually visit a beach that might have pink sand (the sand was worn down and quite white at Elbow Beach), and do some more shopping at the dockyard. I would also recommend Elbow Beach. It's an expensive excursion but it wasn't crowded and there's a good open air restaurant right on the beach. If you go there, plan on $25 per person for lunch.

Food and service were excellent. The Cosmopolitan Restaurant was a bit overwhelmed and understaffed with the summer cruise load. All of the food we had was good though. Oceanview Cafe offers an exceptional variety of food. We really enjoy the Indian food and that isn't prevalent on most cruise lines. The breakfast offerings at the Poached Eggs area were fantastic. The stage shows are outstanding. The singers could all be on Broadway; they are that good. We always love the aerial acts on Celebrity. They are absolutely amazing. There's so much to love about the Celebrity Summit.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 3

Cabin C3

The cabin had ample space; didn't seem squeaky clean; found another weeks debris next to the night stand; hot water control valve needs to be replaced, but they guided us to cope with the situation by turning the knob as high as it would go. It would take a bit of time to get it hot and then it would go hot and cold during a shower. Cabin stewards, Ambert and Dominick were very friendly and accommodating.

Port Reviews

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

Embarkation was good. We had a clear and beautiful few of the back of the Statue of Liberty and were across the river from the Freedom Tower.
