I had a few misgivings about taking such an old ship as the Summit but wanted to take a quick cruise from the NYC area, and the NCL Breakaway was the only alternative. I booked a Sky Suite on the Summit, and must say that everything about the cruise was wonderful. We have cruised on luxury ships as well as large mainstream ships and being in a Sky Suite on the Summit might be the best of both worlds. Cabin 6116 was roomy and nice, although it could use some refurbishing. Our butler, Nelson, was a delight and our room stewardess, Leticia, did a good job.

The most pleasant surprise was Luminae, the new restaurant only accessible to suite passengers. The small dining room was a nice alternative to the large dining areas we are accustomed to but dislike on bigger ships. Everyone who worked in Luminae knew our names after the first night's dinner and were as friendly and accommodating as they could be. Bravo to Celebrity for coming up with such a great concept. We ate in The Normandie specialty restaurant once but were happier in Luminae. The menu is fairly limited but our waiters happily grabbed dished from the main dining room as requested, and I am sure special orders were also filled.

The Summit is an older but smaller ship with almost enough deck space for everyone on sea days. The entire crew is very friendly and welcoming. Captain Leo came to our Cruise Critic get together and participated in different events throughout the cruise, as did other officers. It was nice to have the Classic Beverage Package which almost everyone seemed to have. My only complaint with the whole week was the staff at al Bacio coffee bar who seemed to feel that they were doing you a favor to wait on you and didn't make very good cappucchino, as it was much better in Luminae.

Sky Suite 2

Cabin S2

Our cabin was perfectly located and very quiet, which is very important to me. On the Port side, I would never choose 6121 or 6123 as I had been warned that they were right across from the linen closets. The suites could use a little refurbishing but otherwise were comfortable and clean.
