We booked a fairly last minute 7 day cruise on the Getaway, both because the price was right and we had sailed Norwegian before and were excited to see their newest ship. It didn't hurt that the fare also included the "ultimate beverage package" and $100 in OBC. It is important that you know what you're getting when you book a cruise on NCL; it is not a luxury line, unless you go with The Haven, and you are going to have to pay for the nicer restaurants and activities, but if you are ready for this, you will likely have a great time!

The embarkation process was pretty easy. For some reason the Latitude member line was really long, and no one was in the general line. Literally no one. So we just walked right up through that one and go checked in in no time at all! We waited about 20 minutes for them to start calling boarding zone numbers, and then were able to board around 11:45am.

The Getaway can be truly overwhelming when you first get on board, but the bulk of the interior activities are on decks 6,7, and 8, and the spa, and outdoor activities are on 15-18. The public areas are very well designed and well kept. The only time things got really crowded was really right after shows got out. The atrium is probably too small for the number of shows and activities that they have going on in there, but we pretty much always found a seat or were able to stand and get a good view.
