This was our 3rd cruise on the Jade and even though it was very enjoyable standards appear to be slipping. I cannot complain about the service we received, in fact our cabin steward was first class and the restaurant staff were very friendly and welcoming. The ship has a nice atmosphere and is smartly designed. We had a balcony cabin which is big enough for two, but as we`ve noticed on other NCL ships, the glass on the outside of the balcony was not very clean. Entertainment was variable, a terrific showband and a singer called Carlos was excellent, but I`m afraid the theatre shows were not up to much, apart from Elements which is very well produced. The problem is that NCL do not change the programme very much year on year so we had seen a lot of it, or similar, on previous cruises. We ate in the main dining rooms and the food was excellent and the menus did change on a daily basis. We did not go on any excursions as these tend to be a bit restrictive so we booked with Private Greece Tours in Athens who I would thoroughly recommend, fantastic tour. And Split old town is well worth a visit. There was always plenty to do on the ship, in fact, things that you wanted to do were often on at the same time but I guess that`s how it is.

Now the downside. There used to be a "no shorts" rule in the main dining rooms at night but this seems to have been forgotten as it was not enforced. I`m not a tuxedo man but I think people should make an effort and not look like they`ve just come off the beach. Another policy not enforced was allowing people into the theatre after the show had started. Apart from this and one or two other minor issues, not a bad cruise.

Cabin Review

Family Balcony

Cabin B3

Plenty big enough for two with ample storage space. Comfortable bed and separate sofa. We were virtually opposite the lifts but had no problem with noise and a very smooth ride.

Port Reviews

Venice

Never get tired of the place, nowhere else like it. Dining beside the canal is a wonderful experience. Great bars, restaurants, shopping sightseeing - what more could you want.

Dubrovnik

Incredible to think 20 years ago this was a battlefield. Very picturesque with quaint streets and a castle wall to walk round if you`re up to it. Nice little harbour.

Kusadasi

If you are into shopping this is the place to be, everywhere you look, shops, shops and more shops. But prepare to be hassled every step of the way. And when you get sick of it go for a cheap pint in the bars.

Split

Beautiful harbourside and old town. Many lovely old narrow streets which lead to Diocletians palace with it`s squares and courtyards. Re enactment with Roman soldiers and Emperor in the courtyard at noon each day. Don`t miss it, fantastic spectacle.

Athens (Piraeus)

Took a private tour to all the major sites, Acropolis, Panthenon etc. and then spent time shopping in Plaka old town. Terrific day, lots to see. Try and catch the changing of the guard at the palace. Amazing!
