Cabin: Sky Suite 2

We have sailed 21 times from a range of average to luxury ships and have found that Celebrity has normally offered the best quality to price ratio. This was our third trans-Atlantic cruise and we chose a Sky suite category, which was spacious, and comfortable with adequate storage closets and drawers. Unfortunately, our room was located right under a huge overhang platform above, and shut out any chance of sunshine on our balcony. In addition, the partition between our balcony and the room next door had not been reattached from the last cruisers adjoining arrangement. Our refrigerator was not working, the makeup mirror was broken and the TV remote battery was dead. So much for good maintenance! Eventually, everything was repaired after having reported the issues to our helpful butler.

The new Luminae restaurant for "suite" guests was a bit of a mixed bag. The advertised breakfast, lunch and dinner is misleading. There was dinner service every evening alright, but no lunch while in port, and only brunch while at sea, making it only OK for a late breakfast or an early lunch. Menu choices were limited to 4 appetizers and main courses each, and while presentations were very good and many dishes excellent, some were very bland and others fiery spicy. The stainless steel flatware was a disappointment. Not only was it ugly, but also so poorly designed that the pieces kept slipping and rolling off the plates...Not a good idea on a moving vessel. The service was a bit slow, but friendly and competent. While the wine list was adequate in representation, vintages were not listed and the harried sommelier kept having to go back to check what they were. Since this restaurant is new, perhaps thing will even out after some practice and adjustments over time.

With 8 days at sea, it seems Celebrity could have provided more complimentary activities and presentations on those sea days, other than the mostly costly activities offered.

Cabin S2

Comfortable room with excellent storage but overhang over the balcony blocked out sunlight.
