My wife and I normally cruise with two or three other couples as was the case this time. Comments here are generally shared by all seven people in our group for this cruise.

The Getaway is overall a nice ship. Simply stated the food was excellent. The food was so good that we did not see the need to eat in any specialty restaurant, as we normally would.

For many or most on board it was probably a great cruise. Our group however came away convinced that we would never board this ship again. Since we are all retired it is our preference to book relatively quiet cruises that are as kid free as possible. We planned ahead as usual and felt confident that May 2nd was a good date to avoid a lot of kids since it was past the Easter break but before schools let out for the summer. As it turned out, this cruise was a cross between Disney and Carnival. We found out that there were 748 kids on this cruise and it was apparent everywhere you went. We noticed kids present in the casino several times and on one occasion saw a woman sitting at a bar having a drink with a toddler sitting on her lap. The cruise staff seemed to tolerate all of this. We have never experienced so many kids on any ship.
