Sail Date: Apr 2015

I've been on 3 cruise lines now (Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Disney), and I don't think you could get me on anything other than Disney after this cruise. I am officially spoiled rotten. Basic info: I'm a 58 year-old woman and I went with a traveling buddy/friend of mine slightly younger than me, and we had no kids. We both agreed that this cruise easily topped the others. You might wonder why two middle-aged single women took a Disney cruise, but let me tell you, Disney knows how to give adults their own spaces and their own activities probably better than any other cruise line. (Besides, I think the kids spent a lot of time in the kids' clubs, because I never felt overwhelmed by little ones.)

We picked April 24th to sail because 1) it was after spring break, 2) a lot of kids are still in school, and 3) it was nice weather in the Bahamas, not too hot and definitely not cold. We particularly wanted to stay away from the months where it's hurricane season.

I could give you the same info that I'm sure you will see in the other reviews, but instead I'll pass along some tips that might be helpful.

Cabin Review

Cabin 5C

This room is on the starboard side and has a verandah. Perfect for a gorgeous view of Castaway Cay! The veranduh was absolutely worth the money. This room is also close to the Aft elevators, which seemed to be less crowded than others. Also, it's convenient to Cabana's and the other restaurants. Deck 7 is all staterooms and is sandwiched between other decks with all staterooms. This room was very quiet and I would absolutely choose it again.

Port Reviews

Nassau

Wish that we had taken an excursion. We walked about 5 miles but didn't see anything of interest. The shops in Nassau were very disappointing. I was hoping for more varied, handmade merchandise but it all seemed to be the same thing (Straw Market). The Bahamians were too in-your-face also, it seemed.

Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay was wonderful. We started out on the adult only beach, but it was almost too quiet! We ate lunch there (very good), and then went to the family beach for a little bit. I don't want to be inundated with Disney merchandise, but I would have liked to see a little more available there, and especially more handmade Bahamian items.
