We did the repositioning out of new orleans. We are platinum on ncl and were on the dawn for two weeks in january and this 12 day cruise was the worst ncl I have been on and I have been on ncl for 60 days since january 11th this year. Staff seemed half hearted. Never met the cruise director. They left port four hours late so we missed the delta in the daylight. Our suite looked beat up. They ran out of coffee for the suite expresso pots. They ran out of bananas. The food looked fair to middling in the café and we had bad meals in le bistro both times. We could not bring our dessert back to our room. Service in lebistro and the main dining rooms was very slow. Our cabin steward left a dust rag on the lamp, missed a rubber ear plug from a previous passenger on the floor! The room looked beat up with nicks and scratches. For a suite, I was less than impressed. I could go on but it is too depressing. We had a much too small room for the pre-board for suites. People had to stand. I paid for a suite that was a waste. Had it not been for our butler it would have been a total waste.
This room needed someone with at least a touch-up pencil. The furniture was all nicked. Gum on the sofa, Worn. Not what I expect from NCL or in a suite.
New Orleans is a great city. Great parking at USPark.net at the airport left us right at the transfer bus pre-cruise so when we flew back our car was at the airport.
Casinos were tight. It was hot. Expensive. Fun walking over the bridge that floats. Dutch Cheese was good but expensive at the Cheese Shop. Liked the Pepper coated cheese.
Majesty Jewelers is amazing. I left my wedding rings and anniversary band in the store by mistake. The jeweler, Jay, ran to the water taxi and returned my rings. Had to believe! He'll get more of my business.
We parked at the smaller dock farther from town. Too far to walk anywhere. Not my favorite port anyway. Just enjoyed the ship and sun. You take you life in your hands to ride one of their beach vans. Last one sideswiped a car and kept going.
Love this port, love this town. Never has it been easier to disembark. My friend who picked us up was able to get right to the pier and we had no waiting. Beautiful pulling into the harbor. Glad we did this, but it was COLD that day.
