We have sailed on several cruises/cruise lines and we had a really nice Spring Break cruise on the Dawn. The ship is showing it's age, but the crew and entertainment really made for a great time for all. We traveled with other family members with younger children and they all enjoyed the kids programs. In fact, we hardly saw the kids the entire cruise. Our other family members had a suite and it was very nice with butler service and several amenities. OK - we were jealous!
We purchased Thermal Suite passes at the spa and absolutely loved our time away from the crowds. NCL does a really nice job with the Thermal Suites on their ships.
My only complaint was that they need to put more chairs on the promenade deck. We spent a lot of time there as it was quieter than the main pool area (which is way too loud), however, there were only a few lounge chairs to sit down on the Promenade and they were almost always occupied.
Cabin was very close to the forward elevators and very easy to get to things around the ship. I did wish we had a few more square feet, though, as we have had on newer ships. Balcony was comfortable and very private (it has an enclosed hull balcony). Cabin itself was quiet and comfortable, although the bathroom needed more shelves or a cabinet to store things and more legroom is desperately needed in the toilet area. The shower was roomy for a cruise ship. We loved that the refrigerator actually kept things cold and we had a coffee maker if needed. I would have liked a desk drawer to throw papers into - we did not have a lot of space to place all the paperwork left each day and things piled up throughout the week. Our cabin steward was great and took time to talk with us nearly every day.
We went to Chankanaab Park. Park was extremely busy and when we got there all the chairs were taken and there was no where to sit. It was discouraging to pay to get into the park and have nowhere to place our stuff other than on the sand in the hot sun. We finally placed our things on a cement wall near the restaurant. Snorkeling was excellent, although the park seemed over-crowded. It was Spring Break week.
Enjoyed just walking around the cruiseport area, shopping and watching people interact with the dolphins at the dolphin pool. It is nice to just explore here.
