This was my husband's and my 13th cruise, our 7th on Carnival, and 1st on Splendor. We had a balcony room 8352 which was under the Lido where you just enter the Buffet. We were close to the stairs so the drink station and pool area were close and handy. There was a little noise but not normally at night so it wasn't too bad. Pre-cruise we stayed in FLL at the Hampton Suites FLL Airport. It was a nice stay with an included hot breakfast. SAS Shuttle was our transportation to/from POM. This was our 3rd time using them. As usual they were on-time and reliable and only $15/pp each way.

We arrived at port around 11:45 am. We were on-board around 12:15. Rooms were ready about an hour later. Our room was kept clean and our steward was friendly and called us by name. We had anytime dining and ate in the MDR 4 of the 7 nights. The other 3 we ate in the buffet (2 of those nights they had steak on the buffet which my husband said was good). The first night we asked for a private table for 2 and they sat us at a table that was 2 inches from another table. It was really a table for 4 which we really didn't like. We specifically asked for tables farther apart after that and was given that no problem. We had a wait on one night when we went down after 7:00 pm but it was only for about 5 minutes and dinner service was a slow that night as well. Other than that service was good and the food was good. We really enjoyed the deli, grill, pizzeria, and rotisserie for our lunches. The food was always great those places.

The shows were ok, typical Carnival. They still have a show band on Splendor with 2 singers and a full cast of dancers. The female singer was much stronger than the male singer however the opposite with true with the dancers, the male dancers were stronger than the female dancers....but that could have been the result of not so good choreography as well. Having a competitive dancer daughter makes me more of a critic in that area. There was usually a singer/group in the Atrium Lobby and a group by the casino that normally had people dancing that were all good. The Piano bar was usually full at night as well. I did enjoy that on this cruise for the first time with the no smoking in there now. The casino, as usual, had the normal smoke haze...still my husband and I left a total deposit of $80 with them. The comedy shows were also pretty good with 2 comedians at the beginning of the cruise that changed to 2 different comedians at the end of the cruise. We were able to see a show or 2 from all of them. We also enjoyed Night at the Museum and Big Hero Six at the movies under the stars. Loved the free popcorn and blankets but a little butter would have been nice on the popcorn. We also enjoyed the Q&A session with Kevin the cruise director and the Gold, Platinum, and Diamond party was a great time with plenty of free drinks.

Cabin 8A

We were a balcony cabin mid-ship just under the Lido where you entered the buffet. There was a little noise during the day but not bad at all at night. It was nice having the stairs up to the Lido so close to either get a drink from the drink station that was right there or head out to the pool area.
