We went on the Celebrity Constellation last year just to try out cruising. It was a great time, met some fun people, drank, ate, laughed and relaxed so we booked a week long cruise to the Southern Caribbean to Barbados, St. Lucia, St. John, St. Marteen & St. Thomas. We live in the Chicago area so when we arrived in San Juan it was a 90 degree difference!!! Our short stay in San Juan included a walking tour and some yummy fresh fish at The Patio. We went to drop off our luggage at the ship since it was checkout time at the hotel and to our surprise we were allowed to board the Summit at 11:30 am. The staff was smiling, courteous and friendly from the start! I was surprised we were allowed to start our experience so early but very thankful!
The ship was clean, easy to maneuver around and large but not so large you are lost or exhausted from walking from one end to the other. While still at port and the entire next day at sea we enjoyed the pool, drinks, food, our room and just learning everything the boat has to offer. We paid our gratuities in advance and went to select dining every night. Each night there was something new and delicious to pick from or you were able to have your favorite on the every day list.
Our first stop was Barbados, we booked through the ship and did the Green Monkey Tour. It was essentially a trip to the zoo. We did get a long ride through the island on a Jeep vehicle of sort. In hindsight we would have went to the beach and passed on this tour. We live near numerous zoos so it wasn't all that authentic to us.
Noel took care of our cabin. He always made sure it was cleaned, turned down at appropriate times and stocked with towels. We loved the chocolate covered oreos!! We had an ocean view room it was more than enough space for us.
