Embarkation went smoothly, taking about 15 minutes. We drove to San Diego and parked at the San Diego Airport Parking with a coupon for less than $8/day and free shuttle to the Cruiseport. We arrived around 2 PM and there were no lines or waiting. Needed motion sickness pills the first couple of days, but then got used to the slight rocking motion.

The public rooms were typical cruise ship spaces. Showing a little wear and tear, but I did not notice any graffiti. I have been on one other cruise on Holland America to compare this to. Nice sitting areas (left of the casino) seemed under utilized by passengers. There was an adult only sun deck which was nice. The sun is strong even in Sept.wear lots of sunscreen. The pools were tiny with the main one being the receptacle to a water slide. There were a few hot tubs. The area near the restrooms smelled like urine, but it didn't seem to bother anyone.

We booked an interior room with no chance for upgrade, but if you're on a budget, this is a good deal. Booking airfare, hotel and buying food in Cabo would have easily cost double what we paid for this cruise (including drinks, photos, shore excursion, tips, etc.) The room was decent size, the color a bit garish, but each level was decorated in a different color. Our restroom continually smelled of urine, but this was maybe because we were on the bottom level of the ship. We kept the bathroom door closed and it was fine. We were next to the service crews' closet, so there was a bit of noise from that and we occasionally heard the loud partygoer late at night. TV had a variety of channels (able to catch a few games during football season!) and the ship showed new release movies on their TV station each day. Also, the ship broadcast some of their info and entertainment sessions in case you missed them. Free in room safe. Gym was adequate with weights and cardio. It is unmarkedgo through the spa on the top level to get there. They had classes like Yoga and Pilates for an additional fee. Spa services were available including couples massages, but seemed a bit pricey (over $100 for a regular massage). Wait for a special...Jogging track and 9 hole mini golf on the top deck.
