On August 24 2008, I embarked on my 7th cruise on Destiny & 15th on Carnival. I am a Scot, based in Scotland, and have enjoyed cruising the Caribbean & meeting & conversing with the multicultural crew on board the Carnival fleet over the last 16 years.
Despite being unable to "cruise" between October 2000 & my latest trip (owing to personal constraints), I felt like a family member when I embarked on Destiny in San Juan. My membership of the Concierge Club, in recognition of previous cruises undertaken was a lovely surprise to me.
However, what impressed me most was the exemplary behavior & professionalism of the cabin staff, bar staff & all the other junior members of the crew, many of whom were doubling up shifts to ensure firstly that guests were afforded comfort & attention & secondly to gain experience for their future careers. All guests should take time to talk to these girls & guys - they would learn a lot about parts of the world where life is not very cosy, unlike in our Western world (UK included). They would also find out that most of these people are highly educated & love being engaged in conversation.
