Traveled with children

We vacationed from June 7-14th on Liberty of the Seas. My husband and I are in our early 30's with two kids ages 6 and 12. We live in central Florida and have relatives in Miami, so the day before we left we stayed with them. We had my father-in-law drop us off at the port and it seemed to be very unorganized. The port of Miami is very busy and the pick up and drop off is in the same area so their is a lot of congestion, other than that things went very smoothly for check in. We arrived around 11:00am. and the lines for check in were not long at all. We did have to wait about 45 minutes after check-in before we could actually board the boat which was not bad at all. Of course when we got on the boat we ate lunch at the Windjammer and the food was good. Then we just explored the ship to figure out where everything was. This ship is amazing and so big. There is so much to do that you don't know where to start. Our room was ready at 1:00pm so we went to check it out and it was fantastic. We were very worried that there wouldn't be enough room with 2 adults and 2 children but it was fine. We had a deluxe balcony stateroom on the 7th deck midship which worked out perfect for us. I would recommend to anyone to have a cabin in the middle of the ship. We were close to the elevators and almost everything on all the decks were in the middle of the ship so all we had to do was go up or down. We have been on other ships but have had a cabin in the back or towards the front and had to do a lot of walking just to get somewhere. The cabins had plenty of storage room and your suitcases will slide right under the bed so we didn't have to take up space in the closet for them. Our room also had a small frig that had soda, water, and snacks for a price, however we packed a lot of our own bottled water and used the frig to keep it cold. Our stateroom attendant was very good and cleaned the room every day and did the turn down service every night. Overall we loved our room and was not disappointed in it at all.

We took our kids to the H2O zone and they loved it. It does get very crowded so if you want to get a chair at the front you need to get there early. Of course the days that you are at port it is not really crowded at all, however the days when you at sea all the pools were crowded. We never had a problem finding lounge chairs but they would always be on the deck above the pools. My husband and I did go to the adult pool which was very nice and quite. They have jacuzzis that sit off the side of the ship which was really neat.

We did take our kids to the kids club almost everyday. The hours are from 9:00am to 12:00pm, 2:00pm to 5:00pm, and 7:00pm to 10:00pm. However, if you want to stay out past 10:00pm they do watch your kids until 1:00am for $5.00 an hour, and one night they watched them until 2:00am. Our 12 year old wanted to stay every night but our 6 year old was always tired by 10:00 or 11:00pm. On the days you are in port they do watch the kids all day instead of the 3 hour increments, which was nice since my husband and I had shore excursions planned. My kids did the rock climbing wall, the putt, putt, golf, and my 12 year old went to the ice skating rink. They didn't do the flow rider, but we watched other people do it and it was cool. They do have times on the cruise compass that they hold classes for the people that don't know how to do these activities, so look for them. You get your cruise compass in your room every night for the following day activities and they have stuff planned out all day long.
