I think even a bad cruise ... is a good cruise. This was our 13th -- Princess, RCL, Carnival, Majesty and 5 times on NCL. Pride of Aloha, would rank as #13 of all the ships we've sailed. But, for a price of $1,400 each for an Oceanview cabin for 11 days that included a great UA flight from LAX and all taxes, it's outstanding value. The Aloha's "cons" are manageable/minor inconveniences. The most common complaint (me included) appears in members' reports -- poor level of service by the American service staff. Many of whom are students looking to make-a-buck and see Hawaii. Table clean-up is very, very slow. Bar service is non-existent. Not many seem eager to do anything quickly. I sensed they thought of themselves as passengers not workers. For a vivid example of this, go to the sports bar during a televised football game. My dinner companion said "the American service people wouldn't last on a real ship!" The Fitness Centre is first-rate, fully equipped - everything you would want - open 24/7 and never, ever supervised. The running/walking track on Deck 6 is continuous with no breaks or obstacles. We really enjoyed the entertainment ... Toby Beau and Sonny Rose, the magician and the juggler were all terrific. The ships' singers/dancers were 1st-rate. The comedy duo, High Impact??, claimed to be CRUISE CRITIC'S choice as the Best Comedy Act at Sea (see ed. note)! They were awful! Comics that create an act that embarrasses the audience/ passengers are, for me, just bullies and the lowest form of entertainment - the bald member of the twosome was very obnoxious. They show movies on the pool deck at 10 pm ... they string a white sheet between 2 polls that they use for volleyball - if it's windy, you get a real motion-picture ... what a hoot! You learn to take the bad with the good on this ship. ON YOUR LAST DAY ... I strongly suggest you use "Easy Fly" the baggage service ($10. each bag) you won't see them again until you reach Baggage Claim @ LAX. AND, IF YOU HAVE TIME ... one block away from the ship, you can board a Honolulu city-bus for 1 dollar (GET A TRANSFER) and go right downtown to Waikiki Beach -- tour around for up to 2 hours then USE YOUR TRANSFER and go all the way back to THE AIRPORT all on the same 1 dollar fare. Waikiki was one of the highlights of the trip for me - it's colorful, friendly, easy to get around, has lots of cafes ... and there must have been a thousand people in the crystal-clear water at 9am.Community Editor's Note:  Cruise Critic does not rate individual entertainers.
