My wife and I and two other couples travelled on the Norwegian Star to the Mexican Riviera. We embarked from the terminal at Los Angeles. When we arrived at the terminal our luggage was taken before we entered the building and delivered to our rooms safe and sound. The embarkation procedure was done efficiently and quickly. Much quicker than my experience on Princess. Our stateroom was equipped with a large window and was reasonably roomy. The room was made up quickly each day of the trip and the only problem we had was with a plug-in that sparked when my wife plugged in her camera charger. Entertainment on the ship included dance shows, comedy routines and magician acts. All uniformly excellent. There were also "parties" poolside but these were not as successful. They consisted of getting the passengers to try and participate in silly contests. There was a small movie viewing room which provided cinematic entertainment each afternoon with recent movies.
Food provided was of the buffet variety and several upscale venues some of which charged a "cover charge".The buffet food was uninspiring to say the least. It was seemingly the same menu each day. I was especially disappointed with the sparse breakfast selections. The specialty restaurants of which we sampled several were very good. The wait staff on the ship was excellent in all respects.
The on ship bars provided good musical entertainment but the drink prices I felt were exorbitantly high and of course included a 15% gratuity with each drink.
