Sail Date: Sep 2007

After a recent tri-continent voyage through South America, Africa and Europe on the Rotterdam, we were again at sea walking on the decks of the Diamond Princess. We were bound for a 15-day round trip to Hawaii from Los Angeles. There was no flying involved for us since we live in the Los Angeles area.

We had looked forward to the 8 sea days to catch up with our reading. Every one spoke English on the Islands and we did not have to exchange our money for foreign currency. We kept reminding ourselves that Hawaii is another state of the United States.

We were on the Diamond P once before sailing from Seattle to China. She was as beautiful as we remembered her and very well maintained. Glass and brass glistened and the public places shone. (Kudos to the people in the trenches who kept her alive and well.) CDC rated her with a score of 98 out of 100. Extra vigilance for the prevention of Norovirus infection was well in place. Passenger awareness and cooperation proved the health program a resounding success.
