Ship Facts: Carnival Conquest Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Conquest Deck Plans
Carnival Conquest - Western Caribbean

To start off, the ship is very poorly designed! To get from the front of the ship to the back is a feat! You have to go up the elevator two floors then back down because one of the dining rooms is located in the midship and you cannot go through on decks 3 and 4. Everyone was going crazy trying to get around! This was our 8th cruise, so we are familiar with how to get around on ships, but not this one!

On the second day, we had a sewer backup on the forth deck. Sewage smell was everywhere that there were floor drains, including the staterooms. Water gurgled in the drains all night! They shampooed the carpets, but the smell was terrible. They tried to cover the smell with vinegar! Well you know what that smelled like! It filtered through many staterooms throughout the whole ship! I am sure this was a health hazard!

The service was horrible, too. It appears the this ship is severely under-staffed. The tables on the Lido Deck were not cleared so that people could sit down and have lunch. If you wanted a clean table, you cleaned it yourself! Bar service was not too good either. Most times, we went to the bars and got out own drinks. Not enough waitstaff. Our waiter in the formal dining room was also poor. He was getting off the ship after this cruise to go home on a six week break and his displeasure with the ship was obvious. Our silverware was never changed between courses...he just pushed it off of our plates to the table for the next course. We had to ask for water....and no bar service in the dining room either. We brought our own drinks in from the bars or we didn't have any! The food was so-so. We have had much better!

The entertainment was fair. The crew bragged about being rated #1 for their entertainment.....I question that rating!

The pools were very small, and the slide was closed most of the time because of wind conditions, so the kids were disappointed.

Montego Bay was not a good port. We have been to Ochos Rios and it is much better. We were told this ship is the only one that docks in Montego Bay...I see why! Grand Cayman and Cozumel are Ok. In Cozumel, you have to take a taxi to the main shopping district.

This was our eighth cruise, but our first on Carnival. It was truly a "CRUISE FROM HELL"! We will never cruise Carnival was not the "Fun Ship" it brags to be.
