We left Feb.24,2007 out of New Orleans. There were three couples traveling in our group ages 54-67. Two of the couples drove from Destin,Fl. to Biloxi,Ms. and spent the night of Feb.23rd in Biloxi. We drove the morning of the cruise to New Orleans and went directly to the parking terminal. We arrived around 11:30AM and were on the ship having lunch on the Lido deck by 12:30. We were in our rooms by 1:30. We had outside cabins. They were roomy with a nice sized window. The closets and storage areas were adequate. The shower was larger than some on previous cruises. We were surprised to discover that there is an eight hour cruise down the Miss.river before getting into the gulf, thus seemingly assuring a smooth voyage for the initial trip. Actually on our entire trip, the ship movement was minimal. We never used any of our patches, dramamine, bonine etc. We did wear seabands for the beginning of the trip. We also had ginger gum that was helpful to ward off initial queasiness for rocking.
The weather for our trip was perfect. The first day at sea was windy, however it did not stop anyone from sunning in 86 degree weather and having a great day. The food was superb. The wait staff was always polite and seemed to really enjoy what they are doing. We preferred the food in the dining room. We ordered coffee and juice in the room every morning. The chocolate melting cake was a favorite.
The second morning of the trip we enjoyed sunning and then came into Costa Maya,Mx. We had contacted "The Native Choice" and two of the couples saw the Chacchoben Ruins with David. It was a wonderful tour. We had never seen Mayan ruins and this was four hours of history and information told by a tour guide that knew his STUFF. The other couple did a snorkeling tour through the cruise line and then got a $20.00 massage on the beach. They were also very pleased with their choice.
