Having cruised with Azamara last year and really enjoyed being on a relatively small ship this year we booked Silversea having first read of the Six Star luxury on offer. We joined the ship in Venice having spent the previous night there as I had never been to Venice before. Whilst I enjoyed discovering this beautiful city I found the people living there really unfriendly and most unhelpful.
At 1pm we checked in to the Silver Spirit and received assistance with our luggage and were offered a glass of champagne and a cold towel. The crew were helpful and did their best to please. The cabin on deck nine was well appointed and a decent size. The Butler introduced himself and I informed him that I drink mostly diet coke and could my mini bar be stocked with this. This request was ignored and I had to ask each day for diet coke through room service.
Of the four occasions we used room service the order arrived correctly only once. The little touches were missing like the cabin fruit never making appearance throughout the cruise, the night time pillow chocolate being the same every night, the breakfast items were always the same where on Crystal there was always a special breakfast dish of the day.
