Well, this has been a cruise we have dreamed of for quite some time. We (Hubby) and I have done several cruises, so we know our way around a ship. I have to say firstly the crew were wonderful. Embarkation was a bit slow and the area was crowded and stuffy (It was a hot day in Vancouver though). Once on board we were greeted with drinks and lunch in Islands Cafe. We had about an hours wait for our cabin to be ready which was no problem at all. Once we arrived at the cabin we were very happy with the one we had chosen. Meals on board all ran smoothly, we had a little trouble getting used to the different time, being from Australia. We found the ports of call to be great for us, they had many things to do and kept us quite busy! We did the Ziprider at Icy Strait Point (wear the goggles) the wind rushing past at 100km an hour is painful on the eyes! The Taku Lodge float plane at Juneau is outstanding, a must see. It was the high light of our trip. And Ketchiken is a great place to shop. I would definitely recommend a balcony cabin, as this is where we viewed Hubbard Glacier from......awe inspiring! I loved going to listen to Naturalist,Milos Radakovich speak and also listen to Jeremey Oren on the piano in the Cova Cafe.

Now the things we found lacking, for starters the bed and pillows in our cabin 8045 were really terrible, the bed was hard like a camp cot and pillows had been used past there time.

Also on the second last night of the cruise, I was assaulted by a male passenger in the casino, the crew that I dealt with after the fact were wonderful and caring, however this passenger had been abusive and angry for quite some time in the casino prior to my assault, he was intoxicated and losing money. I believe if he had been escorted from the casino earlier the incident may not have occurred. The staff seemed to be more interested in placating him so he would spend more money. I was not seriously injured but did have to remain in the cabin on disembarkation day to give a statement to the Vancouver Police, who by the way were wonderful.

Cabin Review

This cabin was in a great position, quiet area however the bed is very hard and uncomfortable with over used pillows that are so flat, they offer no support! The stateroom attendant who's name is Rodim is a wonderful man and an asset to the company
