Sail Date: Jul 2014

Having been on a number of cruises, with other companies it is always interesting to compare experiences. The experience on the Celebrity century had good points but others that were disappointing. The checking in process was fine until I had to go and find one of our cases, after we sailed as it contained a travel iron, which the crew kept until we docked after the cruise. The cabin was excellent, spacious (as can be) and we had no complaints about the room service.

The entertainment, despite being encouraged by the cruise director to say how “fantastic is was", was nowhere near the standard of other cruise lines. In fact a tribute act entitled “Celine in Las Vegas” was so poor we walked out! Also other activities on board all seemed to be aimed at getting you to spend more with watch demonstrations, art exhibitions and jewellery displays. Entertainment like quizzes, outdoor activities were few and far between.

The table we had for dining was occupied by a very group of people, which helped us enjoy each evening. However, the food and service were not as good. On one occasion we ordered medium steak and had it delivered like “old Boot leather”. On another lamb was served so under done I am sure it was breathing. But the main issue was not this. On our table were two vegetarians, nice people, were only offered the vegetarian option after 3 days. Despite being offered this no one else on the table was offered it. The service was fine but little things can grate,
