This was our 5th cruise, and easily the worst. If I could give zero stars I would. From start to finish, almost everything about the service from MSC was abysmal.

We had a 5 hour wait outside in 90 degree 100% humidity when we checked in. Literally 4 1/2 hours into this wait, they passed out a stock letter saying the port was closed. Zero communication before or after this about why it was closed.

We were getting on a cruise, so we looked past the rocky start.

Upon embarkation taking over 5 hours, it was well past dinner time, so we went up to eat. The buffet is set up so bad (the whole ship is designed without actual real world use in mind). There is no actual flow to the food lines, so people enter the line from both directions, causing a lot of confusion and traffic jams. Add to this the way many Europeans just go right past you in line (literally happened every day), and show zero courtesy. Maybe it's a cultural thing?

The food itself was good for the first couple of days. They have the exact same food the entire week (breakfast and lunch) for the buffet. Pizza, hot dogs, burgers (horrible), and fries are the staples of the menu. Sit down food was ok, but portions very small, and took forever to get.

The motto of MSC cruises seems to be zero communication. Barely any of the staff spoke even serviceable English, and when the cruise is out if the US, and at least half the people are American, this makes no sense. Our waiters for the sit down dinner communicated by pointing at things.

The ports of call on this cruise fit the level of service MSC provided, with ocho rios Jamaica taking the cake worst port ever.

The best thing about the ship is when everyone was out at port. The lines for food were actually manageable, and the pools were usable.

Oh, and while the cruise ship LOOKS and seems huge, the actual usable area is small because 1/3 of the ship is devoted to the yacht club who pay huge $. It's great for them, but horrible for the congestion of the ship when everyone is on board.

I would advise to avoid MSC completely, unless you're looking for the worst service of your life
