I have traveled on RC twice previously and both trips, although on older ships and shorter trips were enjoyable. This was our first time Cruising on Norwegian. First off my boyfriend had been given the trip through Foxwoods Casino so we were given the drink cards for use in the casino as long as we were playing.
Embarkation: We left from Manhattan, NY and although we opted to park right at the dock, which was expensive, we were glad we had done so because it made getting on and off the ship much easier than if we had parked farther away and had to wait for a cab to come and get us. Many people were doing just that and it seemed to work out fine for them. I didn't do too much research on this but I think parking farther away and using the cab back and forth was much less expensive to park for the week.
When we arrived at the port, we had to wait in line to give our baggage to the baggage handlers who checked off that they had the appropriated colored tags for our floor/room. We had to wait in line in order to "check in" much like checking in at a hotel. We then boarded and were told there might be a wait time for our stateroom, but found it was ready upon boarding. We immediately went to our room to drop our bags and scope out the room. We found it to be adequate, with a small balcony with two small chairs and a small table. We stood out on the balcony as we left NY on that cold day. It was my first balcony and I will never cruise without one again. It was glorious!
