Sail Date: May 2014

This was a wonderful cruise to the Baltic countries, all the better for the wall to wall sunshine along the way. We sailed from Copenhagen on the Norwegian Star and had excellent service during the cruise. The staff on the ship were all wonderful, friendly and helpful. Our stateroom had all the amenities needed and was very comfortable. The shower was very good with a good flow of hot water at any time. We had a room with a balcony and that really makes the difference as it is wonderful to wake in the morning, pull back the curtains and see another port, indeed another country. Our steward was very attentive and kept the room very clean with ample fresh towels and bed linen. We ate in the buffet as we found the wide variety of foods to our liking and the relaxed atmosphere meant you could linger as long as you wanted and were never hurried. There is no need to 'dress up' with this cruise line unless you want to do so and this also cuts down on the luggage requirement. The theatre shows were excellent ranging from the resident cast with productions as good as any West End show, or 'Fourever' a fantastic quartet of male singers comparable with Il Divo. There was always something to see or do on the ship and after a day sightseeing it was sometimes just nice to relax in the lounge listening to music. We usually like to visit ports independently but went on the excursions in St Petersberg as this was the easiest option and no visa required. We had 2 very good excursions with informative guides. The other ports were easy to visit on our own and all very enjoyable. Warnemunde was a very pleasant surprise with a super beach and very active waterfront. The disembarkation at the end of the cruise was easy and we found no real wait, luggage was waiting in the terminal when we left the ship. All in all a fantastic cruise which is definitely recommended.

Cabin Review

Excellent! The stateroom was actually bigger than the hotel room we stayed in the night prior to embarking on the cruise. Ample cupboards and hanging space, with the ice bucket topped up twice daily and a TV for those less inclined to join in the activities. There is ample room to walk around the lovely large bed and the balcony adds the extra magic.
