Ship Facts: Queen Mary 2 (QM2) Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Queen Mary 2 (QM2) Deck Plans
My first experience of a cruise

Arrived by first class coach which was clean, comfortable and a pleasent journey. I like the fact that once your luggage is on board the coach you do not have to handle this again until you are inside your cabin. A rather long journey from 6.30am to 2pm.

Arrived at Southampton where everything went smoothly with the aid of ground staff directing you to the appropriate check in desk.

Entered the ship with a warm welcome from members of the crew who all looked very smart and gave you a warm welcome. My first words on going inside the Queen Mary 2 was, WOW. Everything inside this ship is luxury, comfortable, warm, stylish and friendly.

being a ballroom and Latin dance teacher I was very intrested to see the ballroom which i was pleased to see is of a good size. The gentleman dance hosts worked jolly hard and helped make my holiday very enjoyable.

The daily programme delivered to your cabin is a great help to organize your day.The lectures i attended were very intresting. The planetarium was again a wow factor, relaxing and enjoyable. Perhaps the buttons which make your seat go back could be made easier.

The galley tour also very informative and the fact sheet of quantities of food consumed was amazing.

The food was first class, i enjoyed every meal i had and the service was first class.

The captains daily anouncement helped make being at sea for six days more intresting. as we only see water for six days but with his information of our bearings and speed and weather conditions i looked forward to this.

Captains cocktail party was pleasent but i think perhaps it would be nice if the crew circulated more with the guests.

White Star service excellent including their afternoon tea. Well trained staff of a high standard.

Bars and lounges all kept clean tidy and have a nice relaxing atmosphere.

Facilities and retail have a good selection of various products, something to suit everyone.

Housekeeping crew very good and also helpful. Perhaps very large suitcases like mine are difficult to store but it was placed by the curtain and i had no problem with that.

I do not know where i have had such a good nights sleep before, wether it was the fact that i was totally relaxed and eaten very well but the beds were so comfortable i had no problems sleeping.

I enjoyed the facilities and activities on board which were presented and delivered professionally. Unfortunatley i was not able to view a cinema film or watch a show in the theatre due to other commitments. The lady i travelled with accidentally fell back in the shower so i cared for her for 4 days untill she recovered. Perhaps one day i shall have the chance to travel again on the Queen Mary 2.

The disembarkation took quite a long time due to a problem with the mechanism of the tunnel attatching to the ship, I noticed One or two elderly people getting aggitated and cross but i think perhaps the long wait had made them over tired.

Altogether a wonderful experience and a memorable one.

The ballroom was the iceing on the cake for me!! Dancing and teaching dancing is my passion.

I reccomend anyone who has never sailed before to experience the Queen Mary 2 for quality.
