Ship Facts: MSC Lirica Review (by Cruise Critic!) | MSC Lirica Deck Plans
Was Ok

We travelled on an overnight flight and arrived at Dubai just after 8am. Everything went very smoothly from the airport and embarkation at the port was very quick. We were onboard by 10.30ish.

FOOD

Like many other posts have mentioned the food isn't served hot but if you ask for it to be hot they try to oblige. Not too great a choice either but my mum being a fussy eater always still found something to eat.

ENTERTAINMENT

This was either a hit or a miss with the shows, a few good and not so good. The CD translates in about 5 different languages so hats off to him for that but that's where it ends. He speaks so fast we struggled to make out his English. Other than introducing the entertainment each night we never saw him once around the ship. Big thumbs down here.

PORTS

DUBAI Free wifi in the cruise terminal, can be difficult to get connected due to volume of people using it. Open network. Being docked starboard side we managed to pick up the wifi from the balcony.

2 little shops in the cruise terminal where we bought some cans of juice and got them boarded no problem. There is 2 free shuttle buses running to Malls. One is near the touristy area and the other is closer to the beach area.

ABU DHABI Free wifi in the cruise terminal, can be difficult to get connected due to volume of people using it. Visit Abu dhabi Password... terminalad. Being docked starboard side we managed to pick up the wifi from the balcony. We took the free bus to a shopping mall.

KHOR AL FAKKAN..No free wifi here but there is a duty free shop just along from where the ship docks. It sells alcohol ( I didn't see anywhere else all week) and cigarettes even cheaper than the ship. There is very little to do in this port, a small row of shops approx. 20 min slow walk. Do yourselves a favour and take a taxi to another town. Only highlight

of this port was the duty free shop.

MUSCAT

Lots of things to see in this port. We took an hours taxi tour sightseeing and really enjoyed it.

KHASAB

Free shuttle bus to take you a 5 minute ride into town....This consisted of very few shops. Most people that went on the bus caught the first one back however there is an internet café, and an electrical store there that sells products at a very reasonable price. We bought 3 nine inch tablet pcs here.

DISLIKES

Comparing this ship to other cruise lines I really did not like the sauna room not being free of charge. I was also not happy there was no unlimited soda package for adults, just a 14 vouchers package. No one encouraging you to washy washy. Lots of people just walked straight past the dispensers.

OVERALL

The cruise was good enough but in comparison to other cruise lines I will not be choosing MSC in future unless there is a bargain not to be missed!
