We were taking our daughter for her first Mediterranean cruise and joining two British couples for this much anticipated cruise. The ports were for the most part good...Cadiz was a waste and Barcelona was insanely crowded for mid September.

The food in the dining room was substandard. We were told several times that Royal Caribbean had spent 13 million dollars on a new menu. They should have left the menu alone. This was our 20th cruise with RC and by far the worst for the food. We only went to four of the shows and only one was good. We have seen the same acts time after time. Apparently they have trouble getting new entertainers. The Royal Caribbean singers and dancers are talented but the shows are virtually the same from cruise to cruise. There are two jacuzzis in the Solarium and every evening one of them was closed. There was a teapot in the room but you could not make coffee; it must be ordered from room service.

The ship was clean and well maintained and the captain was terrific. The cruise director's staff for the most part were very good. This is our second time on Adventure of the Seas and a few things need work. The miniature golf course was not in good shape and greens need to be replaced. We never found the diamond lounge and the reception for Crown and Anchor members is a waste of time. There was a sewage smell at one end of the ship the entire cruise. There are additional charges for most everything including ice cream which can be had at dinner for free. We love cruising but are looking at alternative cruise lines for future cruising.

Cabin Review

We had a balcony stateroom which was fine. The bathrooms are quite small. Our daughter's shower door did not close properly and was never fixed despite her requests. Her bathroom door hinge was broken and swung when the ship rocked. She had an inside cabin (7113). Her stateroom attendant was adequate but did not provide clean towels or remove the towel animals as requested. Our stateroom attendant was terrific (Michelle) and went out of her way to pretty up the room on my birthday.
