The cruise was good but not great.
My husband and I, along with my cousin and his wife were on board.I was looking forward to the "luxury" Celebrity promises on the Summit on our July trip to Bermuda but was on par with past Princess cruises!
The Summit is a "smaller" ship which was very nice. The cruise on Celebrity as a luxury brand, even branding Celebrity Life with the promise of first class service and excellent accommodations;this was not the case!
The Celebrity Summit had good food with a varied selection. The staff on average was very nice.
The ship is older and was just OK. The pool area was much too small and the availability of seating was impossible to get near the pools. The pools were filled with Salt Water which was a surprise.
Housekeeping was very good and attentive to our needs. Shower was clean but the drain was very slow.Additionally the mini bar was warm and my request to get it fixed went unheard.
In the main dining room "Cosmopolitan," our main waiters were attentive but over whelmed.
The Casino on this ship was nice but the roulette operators were inexperianced and had to be reminded to pay off correctly a few times. They removed the chips much too fast!
The adult Thermal pool is heated. Towels are plentiful and you don't need to "sign them out," which was nice.
Cruise director Steve is excellent. A classy gentleman who makes his way around the ship and has an upbeat, easy-going style.
Captain is new and young and also very concerned, friendly and puts great pride into his work.He was extremely personable and very professional!
Guest talent was great.Dan Wilson a comedian and Jason Bishop an illusionist were outstanding.Christine Andreas was talented but a little vain and full of herself. The Crewners are very good Acapella group, talented voices from all of these guys.
The cruises nightly dancers and singers are terrific, very professional.
The biggest disappointments were the lack of enforcement of smoking policy;oders in hallways, elevators and other common areas. They should forgo some of the profit motive and have a real SMOKE FREE cruise. The drinking water at dinner was horrible..tasted like sea water.Had to drink lemonade as a substitute.
The free cocktail canapes in Concierge class were a joke...a few olives and 2 chips (I'm not kidding) with a dollop of humus for three people. Plus the promised "fresh flowers in the room every day" were the same five stems of something cheap. Very disappointing and makes you feel foolish for expecting something of more substance.
The Embarkation and unboarding procedures was outstanding.
