Our 25th Wedding Anniversary

Sail Date: July 2013
Destination: Bermuda
Embarkation: Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

We decided a one-destination cruise would be our best bet for relaxation and enjoyment of the ship. The Summit provided the perfect itinerary for us, since we wanted to embark from Cape Liberty, and spenda few days enjoying the ocean from our personal veranda. We drove to Newark and spent one night at the Marriott International Airport Hotel which we had pre-booked, and we received excellent service and had a lovely room overlooking the saltwater pool.

Bayonne was a short drive from this hotel and we had no problems getting there.

Embarkation was very organized and efficient. Our luggage was taken and we were directed to the parking lot which was close by and then returned to our waiting area where we were given a number and lots of cold drinks, snacks and and waited to be called to board the shuttle to the ship. I wish I had packed my bathing suit, since I could have enjoyed the pool while waiting for our stateroom to be prepared for our arrival! We received More champagne and enjoyed a great lunch on the 10th deck and began exploring the Summit. What a lovely ship! Everything was clean and decorated nicely. There were big washrooms everywhere and lots of places to sit and take in the views of the sea. The fitness centre was well-equipped with the latest equipment and lots of twels and mats. I attended a great yoga class and a Zumba class as well. Both instructors were very experienced and helped everyone.

Our stateroom was a good size with LOTS of closet and drawer space. We had no problem finding lots of room for our clothes and shoes. The bathroom was equipped with great products and towels galore. Our attendants did a great job of cleaning our stateroom each day and we especially looked forward to his expert towel arrangements each night!

There were so many activities to choose from each day- we did our best to do as many as possible, from wine-tasting around the world, to dance lessons to trivia, to the quietness of the library. The choices of food were fantastic and we did our best to sample crepes, specialty coffees and gelatos!!!!

We had pre-booked one shore excursion to Horsehoe Bay Beach and had a cramped but fun ride on a mini-bus straight to the beach where he parked at the bottom so we wouldn't have to go to far by foot since it was extremely hot. This excursion was un-time and well organized.

We loved King's Wharf- there was so much to see and do there - from shopping to a great pub to snorkelling along the reef at Snorkel Beach. We took public transit to Hamilton and the Chrystal Caves with no problems whatsoever!

Our service was really outstanding on this cruise and everyone who worked on this ship really made a difference in our cruise experience. The friendliness and helpfulness was unforgettable. Our ship captain was very visible on this ship and he took part in many of the evening activities, which was nice to see. The entertainment was fabulous from the dancing to the singing. One night a broadway singer came on board for a single performance and she was excellent. The Dancing with the Stripes was hilarious and we had a blast watching the competition.

We had the late seating in the formal dining room ( main) and our food and service was wonderful with lots of selection and a very knowledgeable sommelier. They went out of their way to ensure our meals were exactly how we requested.

We didn't take children, but I did see the Kids' Club in action a few times and they seemed to having a lot of fun with the leader.

Our cruise finally came to an end, and we made sure our luggage was outside our room before 11 and given a number and location to wait for our final disembarkation. All went very smoothly and efficiently and we found our luggage immediately after being let off the shuttle and my husband found our car quickly.

We were on our way back home after a truly great and unforgettable cruise with Celebrity!!! Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Summit 7074

Stateroom had a great balcony view and lots of closet and drawer space. Liked having a safe! Close to the elevators but there still wasn't extra noise at all!

Port and Shore Excursions

This port was efficiently organized when removing our luggage and directing us to where to park our car. The large room where we waited was cheerful and the cold drinks and snacks made it extra nice!
