WOW! What a ship! This was our first cruise so I read almost every review on Cruise Critic. I can't imagine what kind of people would let a "misplaced cake" or some other stupid reason spoil such a nice time! I guess some people just want a "free cruise" and when they don't get it by complaining they write negative reviews! Anyway here's mine. Beautiful ship, EXCELLENT (I MEAN EXCELLENT) service! Things I recommend: 1. If you can swing it get a balcony - we did and it was worth it! 2. Bring a power strip. 3. Bring Binoculars. 4. If you like to drink sodas (or your kids do)dedicate one large bag to nothing but sodas! We brought 2 cases of bottle sodas, 5 bottles of wine, case of bottle water (one of which I emptied and filled with vodka - bad boy - bad!) and bloody mary mix. Ice machines on every floor - room stewards will keep your ice bucket filled if you tell them. 5. Bring a good blow dryer. 6. Jamaica: Book a tour on the ship - this island is a nightmare - we didn't book a tour on the ship and wish we had. If you fail to book a tour on the ship go to Sunset Beach and spend the day. 7. Grand Cayman: DO NOT book on ship - there are a ton of tour operators at the end of the pier where they let you off. We took a GREAT swim with Stingray tour and coral snorkeling we booked at the end of the pier at $35 ea. - price on the boat was MUCH more and MUCH more crowded. It was very safe (you are only in water to your waste so it would be hard to get stung in the heart!). The snorkeling was incredible - saw a huge green morey eel in a little cave that I could get within 5 feet of and even had a 4-foot shark swim up to us and we actually got to pet it! This island is WONDERFUL! 8. Cozumel. Don't book anything on ship there is tons of shops, tours at the end of the pier. Lots of fun! 9. Bring sea sickness patches seas were very rough leaving Galveston for about 24 hours after that completely calm. 10. Don't bring a lap top. They have plenty of computers in the internet cafe. I brought my lap top but didn't need it. 11. Have a great time! Don't try to find fault because I'm sure you can find something minor to spoil your trip - but why do it? If you want to have a bad time pay me $300 per person, come to my house and mow my lawn and I'll feed you crappy food - you'll have something to complain about! Can't wait to go again! Note to Carnival Cruise Lines (if they read these reviews). TAKE JAMAICA OFF YOUR ITINERARIES! EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE we spoke with on the ship hated the island and would have MUCH rather spent the extra day in Grand Cayman. P.S. We had two older kids 14 and 16 who had a great time. Be sure to bring a set of those walkie talkies that go 2-miles. We used them and was able to keep in contact with the kids no matter where they were on the ship!
